Father, come and give rest to Your children. Take the helmet from our brow. Remove from us the weight of our heavy armor for a while. May we have perfect peace and be at rest. Oh, help us now, we pray. As You have already washed Your people in the fountain filled with blood and they are clean, now wash us from defilement in the water. With the basin and the pitcher, O Master, wash our feet again. Your cleansing will greatly refresh us. It will prepare us for innermost fellowship with You. For this reason, the priests washed themselves before they went into the Holy Place. (Charles Spurgeon, Prayer)

Wash us clean, Lord Jesus.
dear donna...this reminds me of the beautiful story jada gigi told us when she had the sock....when i read that post, it stayed with me for weeks and now reading it again, maybe it will last me to the sisters reunion!....i hope you don't mind me copying it and pasting it sweet donna...the feet washing theme started with margie. passed on to jada gigi and now donna you are putting the exclamation mark on it!...and we your other sisters are enjoying it and being encouraged...love terry

"Some time ago, our sister Margie, was reading John and encouraged any of us who would to read along with her. I was looking for a fresh place to read in the Word so I took her up on it and started John. When I came to John 13 I read something that really blew my socks off. ;) Its the story of the last supper when Jesus got a basin of water and began to wash His disciples' feet. We all know the part where He came to Peter and Peter said, "You're not going to wash my feet" and Jesus said, "If I don't wash you them you have no part with me," and Peter got a little upset and declared " then not only my feet but my hands and my head too!" then in verse 10 Jesus said the words that so struck me....
"Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean....." and also "Now that I, your Lord and Teacher have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet.......Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them."
What I saw here is that He has already made us, His disciples, clean.......we are washed whiter than snow and we truly do belong to Him......However.......our feet often become dusty, dirty, even muddy with our comings and goings in the world, in the workplace, in our dysfunctional family lives, in our own flesh.....our feet get so dirty sometimes that they are blackened........so that although we are Christians and our hearts are clean........we need to have our feet washed.....
Our brothers and sisters in Christ are not only empowered, but encouraged to do that for us.......We have the God given ability to cleanse one another when we have been out dirtying up our feet with life on this fallen planet. We are following His example when we do this.
This is what you, my sisters, do for me, and for each other......so many times you have prayed, encouraged, shared your heart, shared your experience, given of your time, your money, your heart....... washing one another's feet.....
Jesus said it is a blessing if you do this......He didn't say you have to.....He didn't command it.....He simply said you should.....and if you do, you ( the washer) will be blessed."
